Geranium Oil

geranium oil

Geranium oil comes from a one meter tall shrub with pointed leaves and small pink flowers. The plant, after drying is distilled to give us the essential oil. It originates from South Africa and is widely cultivated in Russia, Egypt, Congo, Japan, Central America and some Mediterranean countries. Its production is mainly located on the island of Réunion in Madagascar, Egypt, Russia and China.

Geranium oil is known to help women a lot, as it has been used since ancient to regulate the reproductive system, the menstrual cycle and during menopause. However, it has been found to be very beneficial for the skin, especially in regulating sebum secretion and in treating acne. It is generally used in various diseases such as dysentery, haemorrhoids and inflammation.

It can be considered as a substitute for rose oil, as its scents are very similar and it is recommended to use it as a sedative to relieve stress and anxiety. However, in large concentrations it can act as a stimulant, so it is recommended to use it sparingly at first, until you used it.
